Biology

Biology has great facilities for its teaching and research programs. We are in the Science Building with Geosciences and Chemistry, a great space for classes and research by both faculty and staff. Our 16 faculty represent many different fields within biology, including aquatic ecology, behavior, botany, conservation, ecotoxicology, evolutionary biology, genetics, herpetology, immunology, molecular biology, physiological ecology, stress physiology and virology. The faculty and students are supported by a wonderful staff working in the Biology office or in support of laboratory operations.

In terms of majors, Biology is the largest department in the College of Arts and Sciences. We currently have over 400 undergraduate majors and almost 40 graduate students. We also serve about 70 students intending to transfer to other university programs after some preliminary coursework here. More than half of our undergrads are pre-professional, intending to enter medical, dental, or similar programs.
